During a visit to England, McConnell was awe inspired by the beauty of Stratford-upon-Avon which prompted his introduction of a new product line “Avon” in 1939. Later he changed the company’s name to Avon Products Inc.
The 1950’s brought the age of the television, the famous ‘ding-dong – Avon calling’ was first heard on US television in 1954. Global expansion increased rapidly in the late 1950’s including Avon’s emergence into Europe.
Now Avon Cosmetics is the world’s leading direct seller of beauty and related products, manufacturing and selling a quality trusted brand for over 50 years in the UK.
There are 160,000 Avon sales reps in the UK with an estimated 8 million customers, one in three women at some time have bought Avon. A friendly and professional network of Avon Ladies that would make McConnell proud.
